Programs

Programs: Infants: 6 weeks to 15 months

Our Infant & Toddler room is actually 2 rooms: a quiet room and an active room. In the quiet room, the children will sleep, be rocked & held and do one-on-one time. In the active room, the children will eat, play and explore! The children will be loved and nurtured by experienced educators. The infant/toddler program will provide both indoor and outdoor experiences to help encourage your child to grow and reach each milestone. The teachers will use the High Scope Curriculum format to help guide the curriculum plans to support each child’s individual development.

Toddlers: 15 months to 33 months (2 years 9 months)

Toddlers are holistic learners. They use their whole body to explore. Toddlers are excellent scientists. Toddlers will observe, touch, taste, smell and bang objects to learn how the object looks, feels, tastes, smells and sounds. They will throw it in the air to see how it flies. They will put it in containers and bury it in sand. They want to explore their world in every way possible. Our toddler teachers will honor the little scientists in their class by providing many opportunities to explore their world with their whole body. They will encourage the class to work independently and in small groups when developmentally appropriate.

Preschoolers: 33 months (2 years 9 months)

Preschoolers are developing the blue print they need to become lifelong learners. Preschoolers will still use all of their senses to explore objects, but they are also developing their problem solving skills. They do this through their play, their interactions with friends and their interactions with the teachers. Their art is developing from scribbles to identifiable pictures. They are then adding letters to create a story. This process happens naturally when children are in a print rich environment. When language and literacy is explored in all of the interest areas, all children will have an equal opportunity to develop their literacy skills.

After-school

Our after-school crew will enjoy a relaxed and cozy atmosphere. The teacher will help the children with their homework and have a snack. They will then be offered both active and quiet activities. They will have opportunities to explore cooking, art, board games and problem solving activities.

Large Motor Activities:

All four age groups will have opportunities to do large motor activities both inside and outside. Each group will schedule time to do games in Ballou Hall, on the playground and at the town park as appropriate.
